Temperate Forest & Coastal Wetlands – FULL DAY

This full day is ideal for those who have little time and want to maximize the chance of spotting diversity of species and families of birds, to name a few of the target species: Chucao Tapaculo, Black-throated Huet-huet, Magellanic Tapaculo, Ochre-flanked Tapaculo, Ringed Kingfisher, Magellanic Woodpecker, Striped Woodpecker, Slender-billed Parakeet, Thorn-tailed Rayadito, White-throated Treerunner, Rufous-legged Owl, Des Murs’s Wiretail, Whimbrel, Hudsonian Godwit, Greater Yellowlegs, Lesser Yellowlegs, Yellow-billed Pintail, Speckled Teal, Chiloe Wigeon, Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Cocoi Heron, Chilean Flamingo (may-aug), Imperial Shag, Great Grebe, Silvery Grebe, Plumbeous Rail, Sedge Wren
Refugio Pullao is a conservation project that began as a bird observatory, considering the wetland’s privileged conditions, and turned into a Birdwatching Lodge, the first one in Chiloe. It has 2 hides on the shoreline equipped with spotting scopes.

Guided trail walk through the forest identifying arboreal bird species and the flora from the Valdivian forest.

Snack at the Reception (juice, farm cheese, nuts, and fresh fruit…thinking that soon will be lunchtime).

Trip back to Castro

Lunch at Travesía Restaurant

Visit to the different hides identifying the species from the bay using binoculars, high range telescopes in charge of field guides

The order of the visits to the different destinies may be altered according to the tides with the objective of ensuring the appropriate performance of the activity (Putemún Wetland and Pullao Bay).
